LE GRAND CONGRÈS DU CENTENAIRE DE L’ACFA : CÉLÉBRER 100 ANS D’ACCOMPLISSEMENTS ET UNE FRANCOPHONIE TOURNÉE VERS L’AVENIR

Une programmation exceptionnelle les 16 et 17 octobre 2026 à l’Edmonton EXPO Centre, avec Corneille comme conférencier invité

EDMONTON, LE 10 SEPTEMBRE 2026 – L’ACFA est ravie d’annoncer la tenue du Congrès annuel de la francophonie albertaine 2026, qui se déroulera les 16 et 17 octobre à l’Edmonton EXPO Centre. Placé cette année sous le thème du centenaire de l’ACFA et nommé pour l’occasion Grand congrès du centenaire, l’événement marquera le point culminant d’une année de célébrations consacrée à ses 100 ans.

Près de 500 personnes de l’Alberta et d’ailleurs au Canada sont attendues pour deux journées de rencontres, de réflexions et de découvertes, réunies autour d’une même ambition : célébrer un siècle d’accomplissements et donner un nouvel élan à la francophonie albertaine.

La présidente de l’ACFA, Nathalie Lachance, invite la communauté francophone et ses alliés à prendre part à ce grand rassemblement :

« Cent ans après la création de l’ACFA, notre francophonie continue de grandir, de se transformer et de se renouveler. Ce centenaire est l’occasion de reconnaître tout ce qui a été bâti avant nous, mais surtout de réfléchir à ce que nous voulons transmettre et construire pour les générations à venir. Le Grand congrès sera un moment pour nous retrouver, faire une place aux nouvelles voix, célébrer notre créativité et imaginer ensemble la suite de notre histoire. »

PROGRAMMATION DU GRAND CONGRÈS

Le Grand congrès du centenaire proposera une programmation rassembleuse et ambitieuse.

Tout au long des 16 et 17 octobre, Expo FRAB et Génération FRAB seront au rendez-vous, deux dimensions essentielles de cette édition. Expo FRAB réunira des exposants de partout dans la province dans un vaste espace de découverte ouvert gratuitement au grand public, tandis que Génération FRAB offrira à la jeunesse et à la relève francophone un espace pour faire entendre leurs perspectives, leurs aspirations et leurs idées.

Le vendredi 16 octobre s’ouvrira avec Francophonique, une œuvre scénique originale qui fait vibrer l’histoire, la mémoire et l’identité de la francophonie albertaine à travers le théâtre, la musique et les récits. Cette première journée mettra également en lumière plusieurs réalisations marquantes du centenaire, dont la Mosaïque de la francophonie albertaine, avant de se conclure avec le Gala reconnaissance, consacré à celles et ceux qui contribuent au rayonnement de la francophonie albertaine.

Le samedi 17 octobre fera davantage place aux échanges et à la réflexion. À travers des ateliers, des rencontres et des discussions, les participantes et participants seront invités à explorer les enjeux, les possibilités et les ambitions qui façonneront les prochaines années. L’Assemblée générale annuelle de l’ACFA précédera le Grand banquet du Centenaire, qui viendra couronner ces deux journées dans un esprit de rassemblement et de célébration. La soirée sera notamment marquée par le dévoilement de la personne gagnante du grand concours du centenaire Porter haut ma francophonie.

CORNEILLE, CONFÉRENCIER INVITÉ DU GRAND CONGRÈS

Parmi les temps forts de cette édition, l’ACFA aura le plaisir d’accueillir Corneille, artiste francophone canadien de renommée internationale, au Grand congrès du centenaire.

Auteur-compositeur-interprète, écrivain et réalisateur, il viendra partager un parcours profondément humain à travers une conférence consacrée notamment à la résilience, à la diversité et à l’inclusion.

Son témoignage fera particulièrement écho à cette édition du centenaire, en mettant en lumière cette capacité, individuelle comme collective, à se transformer, à se renouveler et à ouvrir de nouvelles perspectives.

EDMONTON, SEPTEMBER 9, 2026 – The ACFA is pleased to announce the 2026 Annual Congress of Alberta’s Francophonie, taking place October 16 and 17 at the Edmonton EXPO Centre. This year’s event will celebrate the ACFA’s centennial and, for the occasion, will be known as the Centennial Grand Congress. It will mark the culmination of a year of celebrations commemorating the ACFA’s 100th anniversary.

Nearly 500 people from across Alberta and elsewhere in Canada are expected to come together for two days of connection, reflection and discovery, united by a shared ambition: to celebrate a century of achievements and give new momentum to Alberta’s Francophonie.

ACFA President Nathalie Lachance invites the Francophone community and its allies to take part in this major gathering:

“One hundred years after the ACFA was founded, our Francophonie continues to grow, evolve and renew itself. This centennial is an opportunity to recognize everything that was built before us, but above all, to reflect on what we want to pass on and build for future generations. The Centennial Grand Congress will be a time to come together, make room for new voices, celebrate our creativity and collectively imagine the next chapter of our story.”

CENTENNIAL GRAND CONGRESS PROGRAM

The Centennial Grand Congress will feature an ambitious and engaging program designed to bring people together.

Throughout October 16 and 17, Expo FRAB and Génération FRAB will be at the heart of the event as two essential components of this special edition. Expo FRAB will bring together exhibitors from across the province in a large discovery space open to the general public free of charge, while Génération FRAB will provide Francophone youth and emerging leaders with a space to share their perspectives, aspirations and ideas.

Friday, October 16 will open with Francophonique, an original stage production that brings the history, memory and identity of Alberta’s Francophonie to life through theatre, music and storytelling. The first day will also highlight several major centennial initiatives, including the Mosaic of Alberta’s Francophonie, before concluding with the Recognition Gala, dedicated to those who contribute to the vitality and visibility of Alberta’s Francophonie.

Saturday, October 17 will place greater emphasis on dialogue and reflection. Through workshops, meetings and discussions, participants will be invited to explore the issues, opportunities and ambitions that will shape the years ahead. The ACFA Annual General Meeting will be followed by the Centennial Grand Banquet, bringing these two days to a close in a spirit of gathering and celebration. The evening will also feature the announcement of the winner of the grand centennial contest, Porter haut ma francophonie.

CORNEILLE, GUEST SPEAKER AT THE GRAND CONGRESS

Among the highlights of this edition, ACFA will be pleased to welcome Corneille, an internationally renowned Canadian Francophone artist, to the Centennial Grand Congress.

A singer-songwriter, author and director, Corneille will share a deeply human journey through a talk focusing in particular on resilience, diversity and inclusion.

His story will resonate especially strongly with this centennial edition, highlighting our individual and collective capacity to transform, renew ourselves and open up new possibilities.
