EDMONTON, FEBRUARY 18th, 2019 – The ACFA is pleased to present the 2019 edition of its program for the Alberta Francophonie Month.

This year we wanted to celebrate all of the successes of our community, while making known the Alberta Francophonie Month to both Francophones and Anglophones. » declared Mr. Marc Arnal, president of the ACFA.
Official kick-off and Franco-Albertan flag raising ceremonies
March 1st, 2019 will mark the beginning of the festivities for the Alberta Francophonie Month, with multiple raising of the flag ceremonies taking place in all four corners of the province. Two kick-off events will simultaneously launch at 10 o’clock at the McDougall Centre in Calgary and at the Federal Building Plaza in Edmonton.
International Day of the Francophonie
March 20th will likewise see multiple public events take place at Calgary City Hall and at the Cité Francophone in Edmonton, highlighting the International Day of the Francophonie. Both events have a 10 o’clock start time.
« Our objective of global reach seeks to include all of the different facets of our community to participate and celebrate the Alberta Francophonie Month. That is why we are proud to see partners participating in the International Day of Francophonie, such as the Haitian Community of Calgary and the Metis Association of Alberta. » Added Mr. Arnal.
Two large concerts with a flair for linguistic duality
The ACFA is likewise pleased to announce two concerts with a truly Franco-Albertan program, made possible by its partnership with the RAFA, the voice of Francophone arts in Alberta. The artistic director is none other than Jason Kodie, an Albertan musician and composer. The performances will take place March 22nd in Calgary and March 30th in Edmonton, with the announcing of the various artists through the ACFA’s social media network.
Franco-albertan flag displayed in shops and retail stores
Many partners from the private sector have equally decided to take part in the activities. The ACFA would particularly like to thank the Save-on-Foods team in downtown Edmonton for its involvement as well as the multiple entrepreneurs who have decided to display the franco-albertan flag on their property for the month of March: the Bonjour bakery, Fanfan pastries, Zouzou Hair and the restaurants Frencheese and La Poutine.
High Level Bridge
The City of Edmonton will also light up the High Level Bridge on March 1st with the colours of the Franco-Albertan flag.
