In Canada, several laws guarantee that Albertans have the right to a trial in French before the federal courts: section 133 of the Constitution Act, 1867, section 19 (1) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and section 530 of the Criminal Code. Alberta\u2019s Languages Act also recognizes a right to use French in oral communications in a number of provincial courts.<\/p>\n
